The vnt-17 was a nice upgrade from my stock leaky 15. The boost, with vcds logging as well, is more consistent, it hits sooner than the 15, and it holds higher boost well. I have a 2000 so the plumbing was a little annoying, but luckily we didn’t have to reclock it. It definitely woke the car up, and I wish I did it sooner
Spools lightly slower on the low end, but produces higher boost on the high end. I miss the more urgent punch of the VNT-15. This needs a new tune update and a three bar map at a minimum to fix the lag.

Had the stock turbo bearings disintegrate on the 115K mile unit in my 2002 Golf TDI. Have used Andrew in the past and know that he would set me up with exactly what I need with no BS. His recommendation was to replace the VNT15 with the VNT17 set up. It really is a bolt in with a couple of minor differences which are painless to handle. The power steering line will need bending slightly which is no big deal and I recommend that you buy the braided oil feed line, it is a quality piece and easy to install. Be aware that there will be a lot of smoke from the new parts the first time you drive the car and get the turbo and manifold up to temperature. I was convinced that I had screwed something up but hadn't. Bottom line is I am very satisfied with the Garrett unit and the service from Andrew and team is impeccable as always.

The turbo I received was of good quality and brand new condition. It mounted just as it should and has performed 100% since install. No lag like others who don't know what they are talking about will rant about on forums. It's a vgt turbo how can it lag? Anyway I recommend this if you want some serious power later down the line obviously it won't make more boost because the computer does not request it. I bought this upgrade with the intention that I will upgrade it in the future to use the turbo for its potential.
