Rated to hold 660ft/lbs of torque, this clutch is perfect for a daily driver or dedicated track vehicle. The pedal feel is slightly firmer than stock, with stock-like engagement. DKM addressed all of the factory weaknesses and added even more features. Starting with a CNC'd single mass flywheel, machined right here in the USA, they replaced the factory dual mass flywheel and its inherent flaws. Dual mass flywheels are known to shudder in higher gears on tuned vehicles, and can break leaving your vehicle inoperable. The dual disc design doubles the friction area, increasing the torque rating, without sacrificing drivability.
The stock 2015 VW clutch is barely up to the task of holding stock power, 150HP/250TQ at the crank, add a tune and the clutch will begin to slip. The slip is typically in higher gears at low RPM, where this motor makes most of its torque. While this slip area can be "driven around", it is not ideal or fun.
These pictures are from the stock clutch out of our 2015 Golf Sportwagen with 48K miles. There are no signs of abuse, overheating, dual mass flywheel breakage, or excessive wear; however, this clutch slipped with a mild tune.
